Position Responsibilities and expertise:

  • Conduct research projects in electrochemical energy storage and battery recycling, focusing on innovative material applications and sustainability in energy storage solutions.
  • Investigate and develop new materials and technologies for improving the efficiency and lifespan of battery systems, with a particular emphasis on recyclability and environmental impact.
  • Engage in the development of advanced characterization techniques for battery materials and electrochemical systems to enhance performance.
  • Collaborate with national and international partners to advance the field of electrochemical energy storage and contribute to global sustainability efforts.
  • Disseminate research findings through high-impact publications, presentations, and intellectual property filings, ensuring knowledge transfer and technological advancement.
  • Oversee the management and coordination of research projects, ensuring milestones are achieved and align with the strategic goals of the department and institution.

Required Expertise:

  • PhD in Materials Science, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field, with a specialization in energy storage systems and battery technology.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading research projects with a focus on electrochemical energy storage and materials science.
  • Proficiency in the development and characterization of battery materials, along with a deep understanding of electrochemical principles.
  • Strong track record of scholarly publications and successful project management.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to engage in interdisciplinary research and establish partnerships.
  • Commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the advancement of electrochemical energy storage technologies.

In addition, the candidate must be able to:

  • Design and teach Advanced Master of Science Modules, including electrochemistry, corrosion, and others, industrial electrolytic processes, electrochemical properties of materials.
  • Supervising and co-supervising PhD and Master theses
  • Collaborating with local and international universities and institutions for research development.

Selection criteria:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Electrochemistry with a focus on the development and characterization of materials for energy storage and recycling applications.
  • Demonstrated expertise in electrochemistry, specifically related to energy storage and battery recycling.
  • Experience in characterizing advanced materials, with a focus on applications in the phosphate industry or related fields.
  • An excellent track record of research in electrochemical energy storage, evidenced by high-impact peer-reviewed publications and patents. A H-index of more than 6 is preferable.
  • Proven experience in leading and conducting research projects that have resulted in significant contributions to the field.
  • Experience in securing funding for research projects from government, international agencies, and industry.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills, with the ability to foster teamwork and drive research projects to successful completion.
  • Experience in teaching at higher education level and the ability to develop new courses related to electrochemistry and materials science.
  • Proven record of supervising undergraduate, graduate, PhD students, and/or post-doctoral fellows.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with peers, industry partners, and stakeholders at various organizational levels.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, facilitating effective teamwork and collaboration across disciplinary boundaries.
  • Ability to forge collaborative relationships with peers and to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders at various organizational levels.
  • Teaching experience in higher education with the capacity to develop new courses, mentor/organize teaching programs and connect research to teaching.
